Erin B. Jones, LPC, NCC

Erin Jones is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor who has been working as a therapist since 2012. She grew up in the Hoover, AL area and graduated from UAB cum laude with dual Bachelors degrees in Psychology and Political Science. She also earned a Masters degree in Counseling from UAB. Erin had the unique experience of studying Counselor Education abroad in Italy while in her graduate program. She has worked with adults in residential treatment for substance abuse and dual diagnosis, including treating the children, spouses, and family members impacted by addiction. At the Jefferson County Crisis Center, Erin coordinated a Crisis and Suicide Line, including a Kid’s Help Line. She also led a Survivors of Suicide Group for adolescents and adults, and provided individual and family therapy to survivors of suicide loss. Erin has championed the cause of suicide prevention through speaking on news media outlets, mental health panels, and service on multiple boards and planning committees for county agencies. She has also been active in community advocacy with organizations such as the National Alliance for Mental Illness, Active Minds Inc., and the Magic City Acceptance Center. Through the latter agency, Erin collaborated with others in providing a training in suicide prevention, wellness, family involvement and acceptance for LGBTQ children, youth, and young adults.

Erin has worked in a variety of settings including residential treatment, non-profit agencies, community mental health agencies, private practice, day treatment, and in-home services. She is passionate about providing therapy to children and adolescents, but emphasizes the importance of parent consultation focused on tools to assist their children at home, school, and in social settings. Erin has provided counseling in areas such as substance abuse, divorce, separation and custody issues, grief, trauma and PTSD, self-esteem, spirituality, anger management, AD/HD, school performance, social and behavioral problems, child and adolescent mood disorders, family conflict, sexual and gender identity, and suicide prevention and intervention.
